Biology Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) - Units 1 and 2*

Our Biology Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are written by experienced VCE teachers, who are also VCE Exam Assessors. These tasks are available exclusively to schools and are available in electronic or hardcopy format. A variety of tasks are available for both Unit 1 and Unit 2.

Students are not permitted to order these tasks.

The Biology Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are offered to schools copyright free for the restricted use of students of that school only.

TSSM's Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) are prepared for schools to target the key areas of assessment within the Biology Study Design. These tasks provide schools with an invaluable resource for assessing the coursework component of the Biology course. All tasks are supplied with full solutions.

Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) for Biology have been prepared for both Units 1 and 2. The following packages are available to schools:

Unit 1 Package includes 6 tasks -

Outcome 1 for Area of Study 1 (Two options included):

1. Case study analysis
2. A bioinformatics exercise

Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Three options included):

1. Data analysis
2. Media analysis
3. Scientific Poster
    

Outcome 3 for Area of Study 3 (One option included)

1.  a report of a student-adapted or student-designed scientific investigation using a selected format such as a scientific poster, an article for a scientific publication, a practical report, an oral presentation, a multimedia presentation or a visual representation.

Unit 2 Package includes 7 tasks -

Outcome 1 For Area of Study 1 (Two options included):

1. Case study analysis
2. A bioinformatics exercise

Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Four options included):

1. Data analysis
2. Media analysis
3. Scientific Poster
4. Problem-solving involving biological concepts and/or skills
    

Outcome 3 for Area of Study 3 (One option included)

1. A response to an investigation into a bioethical issue relating to genetics or reproductive science or adaptations beneficial to survival
    

These packages are provided to schools giving teachers a degree of flexibility in the assessment tasks they set for their students. While TSSM thoroughly checks the accuracy and relevance of these Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET), prior to assessing students, it is the individual school's responsibility to ensure that these are an appropriate form of assessment.

*Unit 1 Targeted Evaluation Tasks (TET) will be released on February 6, 2025 and Unit 2 will be released on May 29, 2025. Orders made in advance are welcome.
