Calvin is an enthusiastic Literature, English and English Language teacher who has seen many of his students excel and produce exceptional results in their subjects.
Calvin has a unique skill set as a secondary teacher, having completed two honours degrees and one PhD all in Literature and Education. This has given Calvin a deeper understanding of the VCE curriculum, more so than most teachers and certainly a deeper understanding of the English language in general.
Along with his passion for the English language, Calvin's students always benefit from his real world experience as a Copyrighter prior to becoming a teacher. With this experience, Calvin is able to bring some outside perspectives into the classroom.
Calvin also has a special interest in developing excellent VCE resources through TSSM, which are used by thousands of teachers and students alike.
Teaching Philosophy:
Education is the key to individual growth and empowerment. The experience of learning is something continuous and life-long, so Calvin seeks to inspire his students to become curious about their world.
Learning should start from the student's point of knowledge and seek to build and broaden their capabilities. Technological advancements provide a useful tool for empowering learning, but it is between people and in the wetware inside all of our heads, where real learning occurs.
